Chronological Gospel

The gospels, and most of the Bible itself, are not in chronological order.  This is due to the various authors, times, intended audiences and the focus of the writing.  This makes it difficult to follow the journey of Jesus through the years, there are resources out there than can help, but as you will see even those contrast a bit.  Our purpose is to understand the earthly journey of Jesus, so we will line up what we can in order and do our best with the rest.

Here is a very simple way to understand keys to each gospel as you read it

Matthew

Audience: Jews    Jesus as King

Mark

Audience: Gentile (Roman)    Jesus as Man

Luke

Audience: Gentile (Greek)    Jesus as Savior & Man

John

Audience: Universal    Jesus as God
